So Sleepy.....
Jack isn't sleeping through the night. It's not even sort-of not sleeping (you know three four hours at a time). He lasts maybe an hour or two before screaming at us. I am so tired, and so is David. We have tried rice before bedtime~no luck. We have tried baths~no luck. Any ideas? Anyone?
Good luck Robyn. We had the same issue only Alex. Really the only thing that worked was letting him sleep on his tummy. Although I know that everyone says NOT to do it, but I keep an eye on him (sleeps in the pack n play) and we all get a good night's sleep (8 hours!). He just is NOT a back sleeper. Also, keep with the cereal it does help. Just try and load him up with food before bedtime. It will work but isn't an instant fix. Hope this helps!
If you haven't already done this, you should start putting him in his crib awake and letting him figure out how to get himself to sleep. If you are always there when he falls asleep, he wakes up going "Ahhh! Where am I? Where is mom?" So if he known he is in his crib when he goes to sleep, when he wakes up he doesn't freak out and will sometimes be able to fall back to sleep without you getting up! I have told many patients to do this and we did it with Grace and it does work! Grace has slept through the night since she was 6 months old. Hope it helps! Kacie
Robyn.....I know your sleepiness! Both of my kiddos woke up a lot at night. I tried the 'work it out' method with both of them, and Matt and I just didn't have the heart to hang in there for the long haul. I eventually began co-sleeping with them. And then, I was more rested even if I wasn't actually sleeping. I hope you find the right 'thing' that works for you. At least I didn't have to be up and ready at the crack of dawn to leave the house for work! Hang in there, you may not believe it but time really does go fast. And one night he will sleep, but you won't because you will be waiting for him to wake up! Sarah
