Dave had Friday off work so we went to Battle Creek on Thursday Night to celebrate Becky F's birthday, and so Dave could hunt over the weekend (no deer... he hasn't even seen one in weeks!). So Saturday I finally decided to re-make/re-create the ornaments that were ruined. However, they were dirty and I had a "great" idea to clean them. I decided to put them in boiling water, thinking for a minute "I wonder if plastic from the 70's can withstand the heat of boiling water"? The thought was thrown to the side as my mom and I put the ornaments in water and proceeded to warm it up. Needless to say, the plastic didn't make it. The ornaments curled from the heat and could no longer be used. My dad said to us "just get new Charlie Brown ornaments" obviously not understanding the importance of these cookie cutters until I replied"they won't be the ones from my childhood"! So my dad worked on straightening them out so we could use them... however it didn't work the best because some of the plastic melted. My dad called Charlie Brown "special needs" and Dave laughed for a good 5 minutes that my dad said we could make "special needs Charlie Brown ornaments" instead of the original ones. So then the question occurred "What is it worth to you"? And the answer... $20 for the cookie cutters and shipping via e-bay. My dad and I sat on his two computers searching for the best deal on e-bay for the infamous 1970's Peanuts cookie cutters. Thank-you e-bay!!! You restored a memory from my childhood, and now Jack will have the same ornaments on his tree... well once I get the cookie cutters, make the dough, cut out the ornaments, bake, paint, and then hang. Then he will have the same ornaments that I had when I grew up. Can you believe it's almost time to get a Christmas tree? We do it the day after Thanksgiving. That's our tradition!!!
