Apple Time!

We were able to go to the apple orchard in Charlotte a couple weeks ago. Yes there are closer apple orchards to us.... but they don't have cider or apple doughnuts! And what's the point if you can't get those?!?! The above photo is in the middle of one of the apple rows. Jack at the end of his trip. I think he was looking at the doughnuts!

Jack examining an apple that we picked for him. He held onto the rest of the time.

Dave filling our bag with fresh apples.... I went home and made baked cinnamon apples in the crock pot. Nothing says fall like apples baked in cinnamon and cider!
Jack trying to use his four teeth to take a bite of the apple.
Jack hanging out in the apple orchard. The scenery was beautiful. They had a pond with catfish too... I didn't take a photo of that because I think catfish are ugly! However, the catfish in this pond might taste good because they ate apple chunks thrown into the water.
Jack is upside down, funny photo!
Jack having a blast on his blanket under an apple tree.

Family photo at the apple orchard. I love fall and I love being able to go to an apple orchard with Dave and Jack!

Crock-pot baked apples:

8 large apples, peeled, sliced, core removed

1 cup sugar

1 1/2 tsp cinn. (i often add extra)

2 cups of apple cider

pinch of salt

put apples in crock-pot, combine dry ingredients, pour over apples then pour cider.

Cook on low 4-8 hours depending on desired texture.... I have over cooked and had chunky apple sauce a few times. Different crock-pots cook differently. Easy and SO good!!! IT's like apple pie but no crust!
